THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NATIONAL KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY FOR THE COOKING SECTOR IN KENYA
Opportunity
The Ministry of Energy (MoE), through the Directorate of Renewable Energy, in collaboration with other partners (Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Agence Frangaise de Developement (AfD), Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS), UK Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions (PACT) & Climate Compatible Growth (CCG)) are working together towards the development of a national strategy for clean cooking. This process will be moderated by a consulting firm, that will work closely with the technical working group responsible for coordinating the Kenya National Clean Cooking Strategy (KNCCS).
This strategy will elaborate new and ambitious goals that will enable Kenya to achieve “Universal Clean Cooking by 2028″ and contribute to the NDC target to abate the emission of 2.8 MtC02eq in 2030. Six different studies (including the access to consumer and enterprise financing expected to culminate into the development of national strategy for consumer and enterprise financing clean cooking solutions in* Kenya) focusing on different key thematic areas related to the cooking sector in Kenya have been earmarked as direct inputs into the development of the KNCCS.
Call tor Bids
The GCF project implemented in Kenya and Senegal is contributing to the development of the strategy through the different inputs required for the development of the strategy, mostly strategies and studies required to provide specific inputs into the strategy. It is against this background that the GIZ under the auspices of the GCF project: “Promotion of Climate-Friendly Cooking: Kenya and Senegal”,5s calling for interested bidder firms to submit their proposals to develop a clean cooking sector knowledge management strategy in Kenya. Interested bidding firms must meet the following criteria:
- Legal business entity incorporated in Kenya with at least 5 years operation supported by:
- The Certificate of Incorporation (registration)
- Tax Compliance Certificate
- Clearance from the relevant security agencies
- If the bidder is a consortium, a clear declaration of the same.
- Average annual turnover for the last 3 financial years of KES 8,000,000
- Specific experiences in the development of relevant sector strategies
- Minimum of 5 employees (for companies)
- Demonstrable relevant experience of at least 3 similar assignments in terms of type and magnitude with references providing assignment details preferably in the table format below. The bidder is expected to provide project references with a minimum commission value of KES 5,000,000
- Bidder firm team must comprise of expertise in strategy development, IT bias and clean cooking experts. (To be verified through CVs)
