CONSULTANCY TO FACILITATE DEVELOPMENT OF MESPT 2026–2030 STRATEGIC PLAN

Micro Enterprises Support Programme Trust (MESPT), a leading development organization focused on promoting economic growth, employment creation, and poverty alleviation through sustainable financial services, is inviting proposals from qualified consultancy firms to facilitate the development of its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan.
About MESPT
Established in 2002, MESPT works towards enhancing agricultural productivity, financial inclusion, and green transformation in Kenya’s agricultural sector. MESPT collaborates with smallholder farmers, Agri-SMEs, and financial service providers to promote sustainable market systems, with a strong focus on climate adaptation and mitigation, youth, and women empowerment.
Scope of the Consultancy
The selected consultant will work with MESPT’s Board, staff, and stakeholders to develop a comprehensive 5-year strategic plan for the period 2026–2030, addressing the following key areas:
- Climate Adaptation & Mitigation strategies for agriculture and financial inclusion.
- Sustainable and Inclusive Market Systems Development.
- Value Chain Enhancement to increase resilience and market access.
- Sustainable Food Systems that prioritize food security, nutrition, and environmental sustainability.
Consultancy Deliverables
The consultancy will involve the following key deliverables:
- Inception Report outlining methodology and work plan.
- Stakeholder consultation and needs assessment report.
- Draft Strategic Plan (2026–2030) with strategies on climate change, market systems, and value chain development.
- Final Strategic Plan with implementation strategies, resource requirements, and partnership frameworks.
Qualifications and Experience
The Lead Consultant should have:
- A Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics, International Development, Strategic Management, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, agricultural development, financial inclusion, and climate change adaptation.
- Demonstrated experience in market systems development and value chain enhancement, especially within the agricultural and financial sectors.
- Proficiency in facilitating stakeholder engagement and developing actionable, results-oriented strategies.
