CONSTRUCTION OF WORKS FOR WATER AND SANITATION PROJECTS FOR THE TOWNS IN MALAVA CONSTITUENCY KAKAMEGA COUNTY

LAKE VICTORIA NORTH WATER WORKS DEVELOPMENT AGENCY TENDER FEBRUARY 2022 

1. The Lake Victoria North Water Works Development Agency invites sealed tenders for the construction of Water Supply Projects in Malava Constituency, Kakamega County over an eighteen (18) months construction period in the following three lots:

Lot 1: Malava Town Water Supply Project consisting of Construction of:

1. a)A new reinforced concrete weir 15m long and 1.5 m deep across Toilet Streams.
2. b)A new raw water main of 184m of 400mm diameter and 192m of 200mm diameter in HDPE material.
3. c)A new water treatment plant of capacity 2,900m3/day consisting of units including inlet works, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, sand filtration, backwashing and sludge treatment by drying.
4. d)Two water reservoirs of capacity 1,000m3 and 1,500m3 and a break pressure tank of capacity 250m3, all in reinforced concrete.
5. e)Forty (40) water kiosks.
6. f)5Km of gravity water distribution network of diameters ranging from 250mm to 40mm.

Lot II: Namagara Water Supply Project consisting of construction of:

1. a)A new reinforced concrete weir 15m long and 1.5m deep across Kivaywa River.
2. b)A new raw water main of 184m of 400mm diameter and 192m of 200mm diameter in HDPE
3. c)A new water treatment plant of capacity 2,620m3/day consisting of units including inlet works, coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, sand filtration, backwashing and sludge treatment by drying.
4. d)Two water reservoirs of 1,000m3 and 500m3 capacity in reinforced concrete and three (3No.) 100m3 masonry water storage tanks.
5. e)24Km long gravity water distribution network piping in diameters ranging from 63mm to 315mm.
6. f)A 2.9Km long rising main piping of 280mm diameter in HDPE material.
7. g)Eighteen (18) water kiosks.
8. h)5Km of gravity water distribution network in diameters ranging from 250 to 40mm.

Lot III: Shirugu Water Supply Project consisting of construction of:

1. a)A new reinforced concrete weir across Kivaywa River.
2. b)A new water treatment plant of capacity 1,200m3/day consisting of two (2) composite filtration units each of capacity 600m3/day.
3. c)Two water tanks each of 500m3 capacity in reinforced concrete and one (1No.) 100m3 masonry water storage tank.
4. d)2Km long gravity water distribution network of diameter ranging from 40 to 100mm in HDPE material.
5. e)9Km long rising main of 280mm diameter in HDPE material.
6. f)Twelve (12) water kiosks.
7. g)5Km of gravity water distribution network in diameters ranging from 250mm to 40mm.

General for all the lots:

1. a)Electrification of three water treatment plants from the National Electricity grid and solar power system.
2. b)Electro-mechanical equipment for each of the three water supply projects.
3. c)Facilities for chemical storage, preparation of buffer solution and dosing.
4. d)Project ancillaries including fencing, parking areas and buildings.
5. e)Construction of a total of ten (10) ablution blocks.
6. Tenderers will be allowed to tender for a maximum of two lots.
7. Tendering will be conducted under Open National Competitive Bidding method using a standardized tender document. Ten­dering is open to all interested and qualified Tenderers.
8. Interested and qualified Tenderers may obtain further information and inspect the tender documents during office hours (08:00 to 17:00 hours), except during lunch break starting 13:00 to 14:00 Hours East African Time at the address given below.
9. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of KES 1,000.00. The method of pay­ment will be cash deposit into the Agency’s Revenue Account at Kenya Commercial Bank, Kakamega Branch Account No. 1103686909 or by banker’s cheque from a reputable bank in Kenya. Bidders will be issued with a receipt on submission of Bank deposit slips. The bidding documents will be collected from the address below upon production of a purchase receipt.
10. Tender documents may be viewed and downloaded for free from the Agency’s website https://lvnwwda.go.ke. Tenderers who download the tender document must forward their particulars immediately to: info@lvnwwda.go.ke to facilitate any further clarification or addendum.
11. All Tenders must be accompanied by Tender Security valid for 120 days from the tender submission date in the form of a Bank Guarantee in the following amounts:

Lot 1: KES 15,000,000.

Lot II: KES 12,000,000

Lot III: KES 6,500,000.

8. Tenderers shall chronologically serialize all pages of the tender documents submitted.
9. Completed tenders must be delivered to the address below on or before Friday, 25^th  March, 2022 at 12 Noon East African Time. Electronic Tenders will not be permitted.
10. Tenders will be opened immediately after the date and time specified above or any date and time specified later. Tenders will be publicly opened in the presence of the Tenderers’ designated representatives who choose to attend at the address below.
11. Late tenders will be rejected.
