LAIKIPIA COUNTY GOVERNMENT TENDER 2021 

CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR NANYUKI BULK WATER SUPPLY PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP PROJECT

The Laikipia County Government with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks to increase water availability in the Nanyuki Area by building on work carried out in 2017. ARD, Inc. the implementing contractor for the USAID Water Sanitation Hygiene Finance Program is now seeking qualified local Engineering Consulting Firm(s) to provide technical support to Laikipia County Government in carrying out engineering studies and the preparation of the basic design for Nanyuki Bulk Water PPP project.

ARD, Inc. invites interested firms to state their interest for participating in this project by providing a summary of their capabilities to complete the tasks listed in the following Scope of Services. Based on the feedback provided by interested firms, ARD Inc. will decide whether to issue one or more solicitations for Firm Fixed Price subcontracts. ARD Inc. is not interested to receive proposals from Joint Ventures, consortiums, or other associations of firms.

Scope of Services

  1. Update the water demand assessment developed as part of the 2017 study for the Nanyuki Water and Sanitation Company (NAWASCO) service area using updated data from the 2019 Government of Kenya census and updated projections on service coverage and other data from NAWASCO.
  2. Conduct a water resource availability analysis for the Likii Central river for the proposed dam and prepare a hydrological report.
  3. Undertake a topographical survey of the proposed dam site including the raw water transmission mains.
  4. Conduct a geophysical survey to investigate the subsurface condition beneath the proposed dam site, the lake upstream of the dam, and the downstream area impacted by the dam.
  5. Perform geotechnical investigations studies within the proposed dam site and areas upstream and downstream of the dam to document subsurface conditions, assess the availability of borrow areas for dam construction materials including sand and gravel for drain and rip rap for erosion protection.
  6. Develop a Feasibility design of the Nanyuki dam, appurtenant structures, raw water transmission mains, and extension of existing water treatment facilities.
