1. The Government of Kenya has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of
the Second Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP2) and intends to apply
part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Contract for Construction of
Roads, Footpaths, Drainage, Public Lighting, Water & Sanitation, and Social Amenities
Works for Maili Nne, Mwanzo, Shauri, Kipkaren, Segero, KK, & Kasarani for Uasin Gishu
County Settlements’ Infrastructure Improvement Works in One (1) Contract [Phase 1]
This contract will be jointly financed by International Development Association (IDA) and
the Bidding process will be governed by the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations.
2. The County Government of Uasin Gishu now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for
construction works in the above contract. The scope of works includes, but not limited to the
following activities, to be executed within a period of 12 months:

a. Construction of a total of 5.7 km and 3.0 km of 9 – 12 m and 6 m wide corridor roads
respectively, and corresponding storm water drainage works, footpaths, and NMT
services in the settlements of Maili Nne, Mwanzo, and Kipkaren in Eldoret Town;
b. Construction of a total of 2.7 km and 2.2 km of 9 – 12 m and 6 m wide corridor roads
respectively, and corresponding storm water drainage works, footpaths, and NMT
services in the settlements of Shauri, Segero, KK, and Kasarani in Eldoret Town;
c. Construction of 629 m long footpath along Fafaroo River and a storm water drainage duct
in Mwanzo, Eldoret
d. Construction of a total of 5 number 30 m tall, high mast flood lights in the settlements of
Maili Nne (1), Mwanzo (1), Kipkaren (3), and grid powered street lighting along select
roads in Mwanzo settlement totaling to 2.395 km;
e. Grid powered street lighting along select roads in Shauri, Segero, and KK;
f. Construction of a total of 3 number ablution blocks in Mwanzo (1) and Kipkaren (2);
g. Construction of 2 number ablution block in Shauri and KK settlements;
h. Landscaping and greening of public parks in Mwanzo, Shauri and Kipkaren;
3. Bidding will be conducted through international competitive procurement using a Request
for Bids (RFB) as specified in the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF
Borrowers” March 2021 (“Procurement Regulations”), and is open to all Bidders as defined
in the Procurement Regulations.
4. Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the Bidding
document during office hours at the address given at the end of this Request for Bids (RFB).
5. The bidding document in English may be obtained electronically from the Website(s)
www.uasingishucounty.go.ke, www.tenders.go.ke. Tender document(s) obtained
electronically will be free of charge, while those obtained from the Employer in hardcopies
will be purchased by interested bidders on upon payment of a non-refundable fee of KES.
1,000 in cash or bankers’ cheque, payable to the address given at the end of this Request for
Bids. Bidders may download the Bidding document from the websites and are required to
provide their details by registering with the Head of Supply Chain Management office, located
at the address given at the end of this Request for Bids (RFB)
6. Bids must be delivered to the address stated at the end of this RFB on or before Friday, 1st
March, 2024 at 1000 hours. Electronic Bidding Will Not be permitted. Late Bids will be
rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the Bidders’ designated
representatives and anyone who chooses to attend at the County Government of Uasin Gishu
Room no. 19 Ground Floor.
7. All Bids must be accompanied by a “Bid Security” in the form prescribed in the bidding
documents of KES 25,000,000.00 (Twenty-Five Million Kenya Shillings Only).
