Background
GIZ has been working in Kenya and Somalia since 1975 on behalf of the German Government with national, international and private sector partners in Kenya. Its main commissioning party is the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development [BMZ].
The priority areas are:
- Sustainable economic development and employment promotion
- Agriculture and food security
- Renewable energy and climate change

Context
The GIZ office and GIZ projects are operating in different areas of Nairobi and Kenya. GIZ office Kenya and Somalia wishes to enter into long term agreement with one transportation company for its transportation service within and outside of Nairobi. Hereby, GIZ Kenya and Somalia is looking for a partnership building on reliability, safety and sustainability
Call to bid
In this regard, GIZ is looking for a transportation company to provide the following services:
- Taxi Service within Nairobi with Saloon car (3 passengers] and Minivan [6 passengers]
- Airport Transfer
- Transport of smaller groups within Nairobi [9 and 14 passenger Van or Coaster]
- Transport of smaller groups within Kenya [9 and 14 passenger Van or Coaster]
- Transport of larger groups within Nairobi (Bus, 30 passengers]
- Transport of larger groups within Kenya [Bus, 30 passengers] . ‘
The bidders shall have be able to provide a vehicle fleet that is large enough to cover GIZ Kenya and Somalia’s transportation needs. The fleet needs to be insured and in proper technical condition as per the requirements for the operation of Public Service Vehicles [PSV] according to the National Transport and Safety Authority. The fleet shall also have the capacity to provide wheelchair-accessible vehicles, as well as hybrid or electric vehicles within Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa. Operations should function smoothly, using a booking app that can be accustomed to corporate needs.
The contract will be awarded to the bidders who are transportation firms and demonstrate [with proof] the following eligibility criteria.
Eligibility criteria.
Interested bidders MUST meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Statutory Documents
- Legal business entity incorporated in Kenya with at least 3 years operation supported by:
- Certificate of Incorporation/Registration Certificate in Kenya
- Business/Trading license
- CR12 Certificate
- Tax Compliance Certificate
- Company profile
- Three references which we can contact, preferably German or international customers
- Commercial Eligibility Assessment
- Average annual turnover of at least EURD300,000.00(KES.45,000,000.00.]. for the last three financial years that is [Audited financial statements signed by the auditor and the directors i.e, 2023,2024 and 2025].
- Demonstrate at least 5 employees in the last 3 years.
- Technical Eligibility Assessment
- Demonstrate relevant experience of at least 3 similar assignments in Kenya in the last 36 months
- The bidder is expected to provide project references with a minimum commission value of Euro 80,000.00 (KES 12,000,000.00]
