EXPRESSION OF INTEREST (EOI) FOR PROVISION OF A DIRECT SETTLEMENT SYSTEM [DSS)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Kenya coffee is sold at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) which is an auction platform for trading of Kenya coffee through a rigorous price discovery mechanism. The NCE central auction facilitates discovery of premium prices for high quality coffee.
The CAPITAL MARKETS [COFFEE EXCHANGE) REGULATIONS, 2020 has provided for a Direct Settlement System [DSS] managed by the NCE to facilitate efficient settlement of growers’ proceeds as well as recovery of any other commitments owed by the grower to service providers.
OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE
The Nairobi Coffee Exchange [NCE) invites Expression of Interest [EOI) from interested licensed commercial banks to provide Direct Settlement System services for the coffee industry.
TERMS OF OPERATIONS AND SELECTION PROCESS

Based on information obtained from eligible Banks, the Nairobi Coffee Exchange [NCE) shall prepare a shortlist of prequalified Banks who will be invited to tender for the Direct Settlement System (DSS).

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The completed EOI documents should be submitted in plain sealed envelopes, marked “Expression of Interest – For Provision of Direct Settlement System (DSS), at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange, Wakullma House, 2nd Floor, Nairobi. The Expression of Interest [EOI) must be submitted not later than the following date and time: 12th April 2023 at 1600hrs East Africa Time.
