REQUEST FOR BIDS FOR SMALL WORKS

  1. The Government of Kenya has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Second Kenya Informal Settlement Improvement Project [KISIP2], and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Construction of Infrastructure Works in selected Informal Settlements in Nyeri County namely; Chorongi, Ihwagi, Kiamwathi, Kiawara and Mweiga. The scope of works includes but not limited to:
  2. i)Construction of 3.507 km Bitumen Standard Roads in the five [5] informal settlements in Nyeri County;
  3. ii)Construction of drainage systems for all the roads as per the road layouts;

iii)   Laying 13,104 m of Distribution pipelines 0032-0Dll0 and 586No. consumer connections; iv. Laying 2,200m of DN300 DWC sewer pipelines and 350No. consumer connections;

  1. iv)Ablution Blocks;
  2. v)Install All In One [Integrated) Solar Street Light complete with all accessories and spaced at 30m pole to pole distance; and
  3. vi)High Mast Flood Light Works- Supply, Install, Test, Train and Commission 2No. 30m Monopole Flood Lights in the two Informal settlements
  4. The County Government of Nyeri now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for Construction of Road; Water and Sanitation Infrastructure; and High Mast Flood Lights. The construction period is 12 Months.
  5. Bidding will be conducted through National Competitive Bidding [NCB] using a Request for Bids [RFB] as specified in the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers” in accordance with the requirements in the Procurement Regulations for Borrowers under IPF: Goods, Works, Non-Consulting Services and Consulting Services dated July 1,2016 [revised November 2017 and August 2018] and provisions stipulated in the Financing Agreement.
  6. The project will also be subject to the World Bank’s Anti-Corruption Guidelines, dated July 1,2016, Procurement Regulations, and is open to all Bidders as defined in the Procurement Regulations.
  7. Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from County Government of Nyeri, at County Headquarters, Town Hall ground floor, Procurement Office and inspect the bidding document during office hours 8:00am to 5:00pm at the address given below [on clause 10 at the end of this RFB],
  8. The bidding document in English may be downloaded by interested eligible Bidders from Nyeri County website, www.nyeri.go.ke  or PPIP portal www.tenders.go.ke free of charge.
  9. Bids [original and softcopy in a flash disk], must be delivered to the address below on or before 15th  March, 2024 at 1100 hours East African Time [EAT]. Electronic Bidding will not be permitted. Late Bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the Bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who chooses to attend on 15th March, 2024 at 11:00am East African Time (EAT) at the County Headquarter, Town Hall Ground Floor located along Kenyatta Road.
  10. All Bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security in form of Bank Guarantee of Kenya Shilling Eight Million Nine Hundred Thousand [KES. 8,900,000) from a Reputable Bank.
  11. Attention is drawn to the Procurement Regulations requiring the Borrower to disclose information on the successful bidder’s beneficial ownership, as part of the Contract Award Notice, using the Beneficial Ownership Disclosure Form as included in the bidding document.
