Provision of Warehouse Space in Nairobi.

The United Nations World Food Programme (UNWFP) is the food-assistance agency of the United Nations and is the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security.
In order to complement its operations in Kenya, UNWFP seeks to rent warehouse space in Nairobi.
The facility will have to comply with the following minimum criteria:
- The area of warehouse required is a minimum of 6,000 and a maximum of 8,000 square feet all within one area and this should include space that can allow for installation of racks and space with a clear height of 8 meters or more for vertical storage.
The warehouse area space should be one that can be apportioned as indicated below.
- Open space of approximately 3,000 sq ft, for purposes of flat storage.
- Space for racking setup of approximately 2,500 sq ft – Volumetric space 3,800 ft3
- Space for records of approximately 450 sq ft – Volumetric space 500 ft3
- Strong room space of approximately 200 sq ft – Volumetric space 880 ft3
- Office space 236 sq ft
- Stationery store space 280 sq ft Volumetric space 1580 ft3
- Warehouse should have provision for well-ventilated office space with electrical connecting ports for use of office electrical and electronic equipment.
- Location should be within Nairobi or its environs, preferably along Mombasa Road, Industrial area and Embakasi. The warehouse should be located not more than 3 km of the main highway/main road and the access road to the warehouse facility should be tarmacked or easily accessed.
- Facility Should have proper drainage and flood risk mitigation mechanism.
- Adequate water supply and storage.
- Sufficient power supply of industrial voltage and a backup generator.
- Warehouse compound/grounds should have adequate space for trucks to manoeuvre, offload/load cargo as well as parking.
- Preferably gated compound with permanent perimeter fence reinforced with electric wire.
- Preference will be given to a facility with the provision of CCTV cameras and security sensor system for arming doors and proper gate access and control.
- Firefighting system, smoke detection, fire alarm and water hydrant should be in place within the facility and clearly marked.
- The facility should provide proper and clean staff rest rooms.
- Warehouses should meet all statutory requirements for building safety codes as per national and local government health and safety regulations (evidence of the same to be provided including up to date necessary permits and licenses].
- Should be ready for occupation from 1st November 2025.
