SALE AND USE OF GSM REPEATERS
The Communication Authority of Kenya (CA) is the regulatory authority for the ICT industry in Kenya with responsibilities in telecommunications, e-commerce, broadcasting, postal/courier services, and cyber security. The CA is also responsible for managing the country’s numbering and frequency spectrum resources, administering the Universal Service Fund (USF) as well as safeguarding the interests of consumers of ICT services.
Further to the public notice issued on 23rd May 2016 on the sale and use of GSM repeaters (boosters) and mobile phone jammers in the country, the Authority wishes to update the public as follows:
- Authorization of the use of static mobile phone repeaters is subject to Type Approval by the Authority
- The sale and use of mobile phone boosters and jammers are still prohibited in
In this regard, the Authority wishes to inform the public, vendors, and users, that the techni- cal conditions for the Type Approval of mobile phone repeaters are available on the Authority’s website at: https://www.ca.go.ke/industry/type-approval/type-approval-specifications/
Members of the public with any information on individuals or companies illegally using GSM repeaters (boosters) and mobile signal jammers are encouraged to contact:
