1. Introduction
The World Food Programme (WFP) Kenya is
inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified
vendors for the design, supply, installation, and
commissioning of a floating jetty system to support
fish landing activities at Lake Turkana. This initiative
aims to enhance livelihoods and economic activities
for fishing communities affected by climate change
and rising lake levels. The selected vendor will be
responsible for delivering a complete floating jetty
solution including the design and engineering of
an efficient floating jetty system using durable,
corrosion-resistant and environmental-friendly
materials, and installation/ integration of ancillary
facilities such as gangway, solar-powered lighting,
and cold storage, and provision of after-sales support
and maintenance.
2. Vendor Registration Requirements
2.1 Company Profile & Experience
• Valid business registration and licenses in Kenya or the region.
• Proven experience in marine infrastructure projects, especially floating jetties.
• Completion of at least one similar project in the last 5 years.
• Experience in remote or challenging environments is an advantage.
• References from previous clients.
2.2 Technical Capacity
• Ability to deliver a complete solution as per WFP’s scope.
• Technical proposal demonstrating understanding of jetty design and adaptability.
• Integration of ancillary infrastructure (cold room, lighting, etc.).
• Capacity for maintenance and support services, including preparation of ESIA and NEMA Reports.
2.3 Personnel & Key Staff
• List of key technical staff with relevant qualifications.
• CVs of proposed team members.
2.4 Financial Capacity
• Audited financial statements for the last 2 years.
• Evidence of financial capacity to undertake the project.
2.5 Compliance & Certifications
• Compliance with Kenyan and international marine construction standards.
• NCA registration or equivalent (if applicable).
• Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policy and records.
• Company registration certificate.
• Tax compliance certificate.
• List of similar projects completed
• List of equipment and machinery.
2.6 Local Content & Partnerships
• Preference for firms with local presence or partnerships.
• Commitment to local employment and capacity building.
