CONSTRUCTION OF WAREHOUSE IN GILGIL, KENYA

1. Background

The International Trade Centre (ITC), a joint agency of the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, supports small business export success in developing countries through sustainable and inclusive solutions.

The Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI), ITC’s flagship program, connects global fashion and design brands with artisans and micro-producers in emerging economies. EFI promotes ethical supply chains that generate high-quality products and create dignified jobs for women, youth, and marginalized communities.

Under Project C242 Kenya: Designing the Future, EFI aims to build a green, inclusive fashion ecosystem by training 2,500 artisans and design entrepreneurs—mainly women and youth—to engage with international markets. The project promotes sustainable practices like circular design, renewable energy use, and carbon in setting, aligned with EFI’s corporate sustainability framework.

As part of this effort, EFI will construct a multi-purpose warehouse in Gilgil Township, featuring stitching, beading, and cutting areas, an office block, nursery, dining room, kitchen, toilet block, solar panel installation, 10,000-liter water tank, and perimeter fencing, along with landscaping. The facility will serve as a hub for capacity building, vocational training, and community empowerment.

2. Required Services

Delivering a complete warehouse in Gilgil Township which includes; Stitching area, beading area and Cutting area in an open floor plan, it also entails office block, Nursery, Dining room, Kitchen, Toilet block, Perimeter fence, Solar Panel Installation, Provision of a 10,000 liters Water Tank and External Landscaping and Beautification. The design, architectural drawing, Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and technical specifications will be provided.

3. Requirements for the Construction Works

• The building of all amenities in the proposed project must be constructed according to architectural design and drawings.
